Greg Gutfeld, co-host of ‘The Five’ and a comedic late-night Fox News show, has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the network for the foreseeable future.
Variety reported that Gutfeld inked a five-year deal while winning plaudits from Fox bosses for his talents.
“Greg is a true original whose trademark political and cultural commentary, humor, and gifted writing has deeply connected and grown with our audience for more than 17 years,” said Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott.
“Upon launching ‘Gutfeld!’ three years ago, he rapidly disrupted the status quo to become the most-watched host in the genre, with more viewers tuning in to his show than any other late-night program on television. We are proud to be the home of Greg, his unparalleled analysis, and late-night’s highest-rated program for many years to come,” she added, per Variety.
In addition, Gutfeld will be hosting and even producing some content for Fox’s streaming network, Fox Nation.
Gutfeld started his career at Fox News in 2007 as the host of the late-night program “Red Eye,” which aired at 2 am. Later on, he became a regular co-host on “The Five,” where he developed excellent chemistry with another regular co-host, Dana Perino.
He has been known to clash with the show’s liberal commentators, including Geraldo Rivera, Juan Williams, and Jessica Tarlov, contributing to some of the show’s recent highlights.
“Since joining the network in 2007, Fox News has given me the freedom to be unabashedly myself and, in turn, deliver a distinct experience for our audience,” Gutfeld said in a statement. ”There aren’t many platforms that allow this type of creative independence and I’m proud to be a part of Suzanne’s team.”
Fox News continues to dominate the cable news ratings.
According to Nielsen Media Research, FOX News had the second-highest third-quarter rating in history during the third quarter of 2024. It outperformed broadcast networks ABC and CBS as well as all of cable in terms of viewers, making it the most-watched cable news channel in primetime for 91 consecutive quarters.
With 52% of viewers during the day and 53% during primetime, FNC continued to have the largest share of the cable news audience and reported the highest gain in cable news when compared to the third quarter of 2023.
The network provided 70 of the top 100 cable news telecasts this quarter, marking 14 consecutive quarters as the most watched in terms of total day viewers. This was the network’s greatest level of share since the first quarter of 2023.

With 6.9 million viewers and 1.4 million in the 25-54 demo, FNC’s live breaking news coverage of the attempted assassination of former President Trump (7-13-24) was its highest-rated weekend ever.
With 2.1 million viewers and 336,000 in the 25–54 age group, the network also took the lead later in the month with breaking news coverage of President Joe Biden’s announcement to withdraw from the race for reelection.
Each program saw growth compared to the third quarter of 2023, and FNC produced the top 12 programs in terms of viewers as well as the top 13 in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos for the third quarter of 2024.
