Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently went on an “unhinged rant” about the lack of diversity in Congress, lamenting that there are too many white males in the legislative body. During the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability hearing, the progressive “Squad” member touted diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) rhetoric, which conservatives have criticized for being inherently discriminatory for favoring some and demonizing others based on their immutable characteristics.
Citing demographic statistics, AOC began her rant, “I think one of the things that we need to take a look at is the world that they’re fighting for, a world without diversity, equity and inclusion policies, which is to say the defaults, which is to say workplaces that are honestly kind of like Congress, because the population of the United States, as you mentioned, about 59% white. You know what percentage of Congress is white?
Another member of the hearing weighed in, “I don’t, but I know that we finally have 60 members of the Congressional Black Caucus, which is progress.” AOC continued, “But even then, 75%. White Americans make up 60%…59% of the US population, 75% of Congress. Men are 50% of the population, and make about 70% of Congress.”
The conservative legal group, American First Legal, shared the clip to social media, writing, “AOC goes on an unhinged rant during @GOPoversight hearing, complaining that Congress has too many white males. Is AOC suggesting we should elect members of congress based on race and sex?” Other users reacted to the clip in the comments section, blasting woke DEI policies.
America is the only country on earth that allows its native majority race to actively be replaced in governing their own country. And the country is so lost we allow people in positions of power to encourage it to happen. It’s absolutely insane,” one person commented. Another person added, “Unfortunately it’s happening all over Western Civilization”
Others suggested that it is time for voters to reject AOC and her progressive politics. “Voters should send AOC the way of Bowman, we have enough real problems to deal with without the needless conjuring up of ridiculous ones by AOC, What is the root cause of her hatred for our gorgeous white men, REJECTION comes to mind,” one user said.
“AOC is a living example of where our nation has failed. She represents the devaluation of education, the celebration of division, and the receipt of undeserved privilege. She provides us all a vision of how not to raise our children…” another person wrote, explaining how elected politicians such as AOC are representative of the broader decline in America.
Illustrating the disastrous impact of DEI policies on Western society, one person wrote, “AOC is an example of DEI. While inclusion is important, it cannot sacrifice competence. The constant drumbeat of “racism” should no longer be outcome determinative. Incompetence from within is one of the greatest threats to the country, AOC is a prime example.
