Longtime television personality Geraldo Rivera has made his presidential endorsement clear: he’s backing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
The decision he outlined in a lengthy post on social media raised eyebrows, especially considering Rivera’s former ties to Donald Trump. Rivera, who once had regular access to Trump during his presidency, now described Trump as a “sore loser” and claimed that Trump has coaxed his supporters into believing what he calls the “Big Lie” about the 2020 election being stolen.
In his post, Rivera recalled his earlier support for Trump, particularly during the former president’s first run in 2016. “As President, he was a loyal friend, who allowed regular access. My resulting coverage gave him the benefit of most doubts. His presidency was underrated,” Rivera said. Yet, despite this initial praise, Rivera sharply criticized Trump’s refusal to concede the 2020 election and his continued claims of voter fraud.
“None exists. If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made a liar of you,” Rivera bluntly declared, accusing Trump of leading his followers astray with baseless claims. He went further, holding Trump responsible for the events of January 6, 2021, stating, “Trump incited and unleashed the violent attack on the center of democracy, the U.S. Capitol for which he was Impeached.
Sore Loser

It’s no secret that Rivera has been a controversial figure throughout his career, often finding himself at odds with the conservative base he once courted. His latest statements show his commitment to distancing himself from Trump, even going so far as to endorse Harris, a move that is sure to alienate many former fans.
Initially, Rivera was supportive of Trump, particularly during his 2016 presidential campaign. As a longtime acquaintance from the New York celebrity circuit and media scenes, Rivera often defended Trump’s actions and policies in his role as a commentator on Fox News.
Many of Trump’s supporters are likely to dismiss Rivera’s comments as the latest in a series of attacks on the former president. As Rivera himself acknowledged, Harris’s presidency would be a “disaster,” yet he still throws his support behind her in what appears to be a personal vendetta against Trump.
