Former First Lady Melania Trump received a massive round of applause at the Al Smith dinner in New York City. Footage from the event showed former President Donald Trump and his wife having a delightful time at the event, where the two seemed to receive a notably positive reception from the group of New York City Elite.
Conservative influencer Bo Loudon wrote on X, “WOW! THE AL SMITH NYC DINNER JUST GAVE MELANIA TRUMP A ROARING APPLAUSE! Look how loving Donald and Melania look together! We know the FAKE NEWS won’t report this. Share to make this go viral!” Users on social media reacted to the footage praising Melania and Trump.
“Jim Gaffigan says that the Democrats are so concerned of Trump being a threat to democracy that “They staged a coup, ousted their democratically elected incumbent and installed Kamala Harris”. Trump can’t believe he said it!” one person said about the footage.
Former President Trump also made headlines for several hilarious jokes he made throughout the evening, drawing roaring laughter from the crowd. “Tradition holds that I’m supposed to tell a few self-deprecating jokes this evening. So here it goes. Nope. I’ve got nothing. I’ve got nothing. There’s nothing to say. I guess I just don’t see the point of taking shots at myself when other people have been shooting at me for a hell of a long time,” he said, joking about the assassination attempts made against him.
“The last Democrat not to attend this important event was Walter Mondale. And it did not go very well for him. He lost 49 states and he won one: Minnesota. So I said there’s no way I’m missing it,” Trump added, joking that the last presidential candidate who skipped the diner lost in a landslide, only winning one state.
Trump also poked fun at Tim Walz, referencing his infamous lie about being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square incident when it was proven he was in Nebraska. “Unfortunately, Governor Walz isn’t here himself. But don’t worry, he’ll say that he was,” Trump said, arousing an intense laughter. “I used to think the Democrats were crazy for saying men have periods. But then I met Tim Walz,” he also said about the Minnesota Governor.
The Republican presidential candidate also poked fun at Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer who was in attendance. “Chuck Schumer is here looking very glum,” he said. “But look on the bright side Chuck, considering how woke your party has become, if Kamala loses you still have the chance to become the first woman president,” he added, joking about the Democratic fixation with gender ideology.

Furthermore, Trump called out the “White Dues for Harris” activist group. “There’s a group, White Dudes for Harris. But I’m not worried about it because their wives and their wives’ lovers are all voting for me,” the former president said.
