Things have gotten funnier than ever regarding a spat between Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman and woke New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortes, as both the left and right sections of the internet roasted her for her online tantrum in response to Sen. Fetterman’s comments on the war in Gaza.
As background, what started the spat was a post from Fetterman. “The tragedy in Gaza is 100% on Hamas. Stop using civilians and hospitals as shields, surrender, and release all remaining hostages—and this ends,” Fetterman wrote on X, calling out a headline about AOC that read, “Ocasio-Cortez criticizes Biden administration over “unrestrained” Israel government.”
Responding to Fetterman’s tweet, AOC wrote, “I dunno man. I care about little kids dying. I care about human rights. I care that billions of US tax dollars’ worth of weapons are carrying out unspeakable atrocities. I care enough for us to do better. Hope this bleak dunk attempt gets you whatever it is you’re going for.”
Earlier in the week, AOC had expressed similar sentiment in another post in which she wrote, “The horrors unfolding in northern Gaza are the result of a completely unrestrained Netanyahu gov, fully armed by the Biden admin while food aid is blocked and patients are bombed in hospitals. This is a genocide of Palestinians. The US must stop enabling it. Arms embargo now.”
X (formerly Twitter) had a field day mocking AOC for her nonsense. One account, for example, said that the spat was very embarrassing to watch AOC do her ridiculous routine and Fetterman participate, saying, “AOC and Fetterman doing a good cop, bad cop routine and it’s so embarrassing all around.”
Another account, also on the left, hammered Harris for her stance on the war and AOC for supporting her, saying, “You, Dick Cheney, & Fetterman are voting and campaigning for the same person. Functionally, despite all your tweets, you’re all working towards the same outcome, which is a President Harris. A President Harris who will be sending more bombs to Israel to kill more Palestinians.”
Similarly, one commenter on AOC’s post said, “Hamas is a cancer on the Palestinian people. If you really care about little kids dying, you’d do everything in your power to support Israel in destroying Hamas. The sooner you and your cronies figure this it out, the better. And show some respect to Senator Fetterman, he’s got the common sense to get it.”
Still another commenter said, defending Sen. Fetterman and attacking Rep. AOC, “You’re such an obnoxious little shit. Fetterman advocating for the dismantling Hamas is him caring about other human beings. Him disagreeing with you does not indicate otherwise. You are not the arbitrator of virtue.”
And, also attacking Rep. AOC and defending Sen. Fetterman, one poster said that it is crazy that Rep. AOC is, in his view, defending a terror group. That commenter said, “Fetterman is 100% correct and appealing to emotions is her only defense of a terrorist group…which is wild but hey, that’s what TikTok says, so…”
